Outcomes of the 6th CO2GeoNet Open Forum and the CGS Europe workshop 'Legal and regulatory issues - implemetation of the EU Directive'

9-11 May 2011, San Servolo Island, Venice, Italy
CO2GeoNet -Europe's Network of Excellence on the geological storage of CO2-
held its sixth Open Forum in Venice, 10-11 May 2010

The event was divided in two parts:

a 2-day Open Forum that provided an overview of the envisaged large-scale CO2 storage demos in Europe, the associated regulatory framework and the current state of research

a 1-day workshop on regulatory issues for the implementation of the EU Directive on the geological storage of CO2

The 6th Open Forum proved to be a great success:
  • good attendance (120) from industry, regulatory bodies and the research community
  • high-quality, informative presentations
  • lively discussions
  • good atmosphere allowing the exchange of ideas
This year, a true European coverage was possible through collaboration with 'CGS Europe', an FP7 Pan-European Coordination Action on the geological storage of CO2, in which all the CO2GeoNet members are involved. Visit the CGS Europe website: www.cgseurope.net
