Natural analogues for CO2 storage in Europe
NASCENT addresses key issues of geological CO2 sequestration by using natural occurrences as analogues for geological repositories of anthropogenic CO2.
These issues include the long-term safety and stability of storage underground and the potential environmental effects of leakage from an underground reservoir.
The project provides clear information to assess and support management of the potential risks to the environment. Natural CO2 accumulations provide ideal analogues for CO2 storage underground.
