Outcomes of the workshop "CO2 Capture and Storage - Response to Climate Change"

CGS Europe organised the Regional CCS-Awareness-Raising Workshop entitled
‘CO2 Capture and Storage – Response to Climate Change’
in the Verkiai Palace near Vilnius, Lithuania, on 13-14 april
 
 
It was the first of three such workshops to be organised under CGS Europe, and actually the third of its kind, following on from two previous workshops in the same series organised by the CO2NET EAST network in 2007-2009.
 
The workshop was targeted at EU Member States and Candidate Countries of the Baltic Sea Region and Central & Eastern Europe. It attracted 70 participants from 16 countries, the majority coming from the Baltic Sea region. 28 talks and 16 posters were presented during the two-day programme, which also included two lively round-table discussions.

During the six thematic sessions, stakeholders were given the opportunity to hear more about and discuss:

  • alternative storage technologies
  • safety & public acceptance
